Akansha Ranjan Kapoor got married to filmmaker Sharan Sharma in an intimate marriage at her Mumbai residence. She shared some dreamy photos from the wedding ceremony on her Instagram.
In fact, the wedding had similar echoes of another celebrity wedding we have seen in the past. It just happened to be her best friend Alia Bhatt, who also had a simple home wedding surrounded by family and close friends.
While Akansha Ranjan Kapoor and husband Sharan Sharma chose to have a small ceremony, they did throw a star-studded reception for members of the fraternity. And in all this, Akansha had her best friend by her side, Alia Bhatt.
The Grey Craze
For the chooda ceremony of Akansha Ranjan Kapoor that took place at her home, Alia Bhatt wore a stunning grey
saree. It was embroidered in gold and added an elegant touch to the celebrations.
The element that added visual interest to the look and took it to the next level was Alia Bhatt’s saree blouse. It had a keyhole design element in the front and a high collar that was clasped together with a gold button. The grey saree had a stunning gold border around the pallu that made it work overtime for the wedding, despite being an unusual colour.
The actor wore her hair in a slicked-back bun and added a pearl maang-tikka. She also wore massive circular earrings with gems. Alia Bhatt added a few rings but kept things simple with the other accessories, opting against wearing any bangles or chains. She added a pair of tiny oval sunglasses as she rocked her bridesmaid duties.
The Royal Look
The actor was also seen stepping out in a royal purple saree for other wedding celebrations. However, it wasn’t just something simple.
She skipped the traditional saree blouse and instead opted for a strapless corset top in a solid purple. It featured a sweetheart neckline and tiny bows in the front and a lace-up detail at the back that blended it for a seamless look.
She also gave her saree a modern drape. In fact, the saree she wore looked more like a skirt, which was pleated in the front, and the pallu was draped over her arm. To balance the rich and royal look of her outfit, Alia Bhatt kept the accessories to a minimum. She carried a small vintage-looking clutch bag with gold hardware and purple designs. The actor’s hair was styled into a slicked-back bun. She wore gold dangling earrings and a statement ring, but skipped all other jewellery. Famous for her aversion to heavy, caked-on makeup, Alia Bhatt kept things soft and dewy, with minimal blush and a pink-nude lipstick.
Videos from the reception have made their way online, and Alia Bhatt can be seen putting on a energetic dance performance. She is seen performing alongside other guests to a medley of popular Bollywood songs in what appeared to be a choreographed performance for the bride and groom. Indian Express reported that the dance began with “Kanchi Re Kanchi Re” before moving to “Maahi Ve.” Also joining the performance were Akansha’s sister Anushka Ranjan Kapoor and her husband, actor Aditya Seal. The performance concluded with “Panwadi,” after which Alia invited Akansha and Sharan onto the dance floor, drawing cheers from the guests.

Dressed in a beautiful grey saree, Alia seemed focused as she tied the kaleeras onto Akanksha’s bangles. The bride-to-be, meanwhile, looked radiant in a bright red saree with a heavily embellished golden blouse as she got ready for the chooda ceremony surrounded by family and friends.
