After failing to open his account in the first innings of the second unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Yashasvi Jaiswal played an unbeaten knock of 155 runs off 162 balls in the second innings on Tuesday (November 3).
The left-handed batter from Mumbai, who is set to open the innings for the Shubman Gill-led side in the two-match Test series later this month, hammered 15 fours and five sixes to help India A reach a total of 282 for 2 in 52.4 overs before the match ended in a draw.
Jaiswal, who made scores of 17 and 5 in the first unofficial Test last month in Lincoln, added 247 runs off 242 balls for the third wicket with Yash Rathod, who scored 100 off 122 balls.
Jaiswal was criticised for his poor
show with the bat in the first three innings of the ongoing unofficial Test series between India A and New Zealand A, but on Tuesday, he silenced his critics by playing a brilliant knock.
Yashasvi was batting on 99 off 118 balls when he hit a six off Dean Foxcroft’s bowling to reach the 100-run mark.
A huge relief for Indian cricket fans
Despite the challenging batting conditions under cloudy skies Yashasvi Jaiswal has sent a strong message with a magnificent century even if it came in the second innings
A brilliant hundred from a terrific player https://t.co/OFZd6gkSCi— Tide Bhai (@Public_Voice0) November 3, 2026
He completed his 150 in 154 balls by hitting a four off the first ball of the 51st over of India A’s innings, bowled by Matthew Boyle.
While Jaiswal roared back to form on Tuesday, it was a disappointing day for Devdutt Padikkal. The left-handed batter from Karnataka, who is almost certain to bat at No. 3 for India in the first Test against the Kiwis at Basin Reserve, failed to open his account in the second innings as well. He was sent back to the pavilion for a golden duck by Brett Randell during the morning session on the fourth day.
His dismissal came a couple of balls after B Sai Sudharsan was caught by Tim Robinson off Jarrod McKay’s bowling in the 12th over.
