Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar to enquire about his health and wished him a speedy recovery. During the conversation, PM Modi reportedly told the veteran politician that his daughter, Supriya Sule, was now ready and that others could take care of the country, urging him not to worry and to focus on his health.
Details of the conversation were shared by Pawar’s close friend Vitthal Maniyar, who told reporters that the Prime Minister spoke to the NCP (SP) chief with great affection.
According to Maniyar, PM Modi told Pawar that Supriya Sule was ready and that they were prepared to look after the country.
“Supriya Sule is ready, and we are ready to take care of the
country. You need not worry about the country. Please take care of your health,” PM Modi told Pawar, according to Maniyar’s account of the conversation.
Responding to the Prime Minister, Pawar thanked him for calling and enquiring about his well-being. He reportedly told PM Modi that there was no need for him to worry about the country as they were there to take care of things.
“When you people are there, I do not need to worry about the country. You continue your work,” Pawar told the Prime Minister, according to Maniyar.
The aide described the exchange as a warm and affectionate conversation between the two leaders.
PM Modi also advised Pawar to take complete rest and told him that Supriya and others would take care of the country while he recovered.
SHARAD PAWAR DISCHARGED FROM PUNE HOSPITAL
The Prime Minister’s call came on Wednesday, November 4, the day Pawar was discharged from Pune’s Ruby Hall Clinic, where he had been admitted on November 2 following complaints of cough and pleuritic chest pain.
The 85-year-old politician was subsequently admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for further medical examinations. His daughter, Baramati MP and NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule, confirmed his admission through a social media post.
According to an official statement issued by Dr Purvez K Grant, Chief Cardiologist, Chairman and Managing Trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, Pawar was stable and doing well at the time of his discharge.
“Mr Sharad Pawar has been discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic today. He is stable and doing well. He will be travelling directly from the hospital to his residence in Mumbai. We wish him good health and a speedy recovery,” the statement said.
‘ALL MEDICAL REPORTS WERE GOOD’: PAWAR’S AIDE
Earlier, speaking to reporters, Maniyar said all of Pawar’s medical reports were satisfactory, and there was no reason for concern.
“His health is good, and he is not facing any particular difficulty. He had a cough and phlegm two days ago, following which he was admitted here. All the medical examinations were conducted, and the reports were good. There was nothing in the reports that raised any concern,” Maniyar said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
He also appealed to party workers and supporters not to worry about the veteran leader’s health, saying Pawar was doing well. Maniyar thanked people across Maharashtra and the country for their affection and concern.
Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule had earlier said that he was undergoing medical tests and that all his health parameters were stable.
The hospital had subsequently stated that Pawar would remain under observation as a precautionary measure. His condition remained stable, and the discomfort had subsided, following which doctors cleared him for discharge.
The veteran politician was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic on November 2 after complaining of cough and pleuritic chest pain. Pleuritic pain refers to chest pain that typically worsens while breathing, coughing or sneezing.
