A Malaysian tourist’s sarcastic account of his experiences in Delhi has caught the attention of social media users after he described a series of frustrating encounters during his visit to the capital of India. From an uncomfortable incident at a crowded public place to confusion over Metro fare, his post offered a humorous account of navigating the city.
Alwyn Lau, a Malaysian trainer with more than 28 years of experience in training, education and consulting, shared his experience in a post on X, which began with the remark, “I’m loving Delhi.”
He Opened Up About Immigration Issue Describing his very first encounter, Lau claimed that a passenger trying to retrieve his bag pushed against him inappropriately while attempting to get past. He then
recounted an issue at immigration, where he said he was reprimanded for not completing an e-arrival card and was warned about protests in the city.
“First, a passenger who couldn’t wait 20 seconds to get his bag rammed his crotch against my b*tt,” he wrote in the post. “Then immigration screws me for not filling up the e-arrival card and warns me there are protests in the city.”
He Shared His Experience At Metro Station
However, his troubles did not end there. Lau shared that a Metro employee attempted to charge him Rs 150, which he believed was more than the fare he needed to pay. “Then the Metro dude tries to con 150 rupees from me before I gave him that look, like, isn’t the ride Rp 64? Why so little change?” he added.
Lau also described encountering a man repeatedly shouting expletives while waiting for a train, adding another frustrating moment to his day. His final complaint concerned boarding a train. He said he assumed that arriving first at the door meant he would be able to enter first, only to find six other people pushing ahead.
“Delhi Ain’t For Beginners”
The post has since gone viral on the social media platform, with some people agreeing to his sentiments, while others suggested him other places to visit than Delhi.
“My everyday frustration in one single tweet,” said a user.
I’m loving Delhi.
First, a passenger who couldn’t wait 20 seconds to get his bag rammed his crotch against my butt.
Then immigration screws me for not filling up the e-arrival card and warns me there are protests in the city.
Then the Metro dude tries to con 150 rupees from me before I gave him that look, like, isn’t the ride Rp64? Why so little change?
Then a guy screams F*ck a million times whilst waiting for the train.
Finally I thought being first at the train door meant I go in first. But 6 guys disagreed 😅

“Delhi ain’t for beginners my friend,” another wrote.
“Even Indians need training and practice to travel in India. Some basic rules. Come 2 days early. Do reconnaince where you need to go. Check alternative routes and mode and practice,” an individual commented.
Meanwhile, someone said, “I have had worse experiences in New York immigration and metro trains. Half of the coaches are filled with at least one insane person screaming threats and curses and looking outright dangerous to be allowed in public. Every place has its own issues and quirks.”
