The iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata will play host to an important game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 between England and Scotland on Saturday, February 14. After contrasting results in their last games, both England and Scotland eye a victory that could well determine the race for two Super 8 qualifiers from the group, also featuring the West Indies, Nepal and Italy.
For England, this is a must-win encounter after their disappointing performance and loss to former champions West Indies in Mumbai on Wednesday, February 11. Harry Brook & company lost by 30 runs after conceding a huge total of 196/6 in their 20 overs. Familiar issues with the ball came back to haunt the Englishmen, as wrist-spinner Adil Rashid (2/16) was their only real shining
spot. The experienced bowler was the difference between England not giving away in excess of 210-220 and keeping the Calypso Kings below the 200-mark.
Rashid’s earnest efforts, however, ultimately went in vain after England crumbled to 166 all out during the run chase. Several English batters got off to a start but failed to make a substantial individual score, with Sam Curran’s 43 being the top score in their ranks.
Scotland, led by Richie Berrington, overcame their loss to the West Indies with a comprehensive display and victory against fellow associate side Italy. A terrific knock of 84 from George Munsey pushed Scotland to a huge score of 207/4 in their 20 overs, before Michael Leask’s 4 for 17 helped dismiss the Italians for 134. England, who had earlier won a cliff-hanger versus Nepal in their first match, need to bounce back from the loss to the Caribbean men or else another defeat could well end their hopes of a third title.
