Daily Bhopal Metro commuters are set to face major inconvenience as a revised schedule has come into force from Friday, April 3, significantly reducing operational hours. The change marks a sharp shift from earlier timings, when services were available throughout the day from morning to late evening.
Under the new arrangement, Metro services will now run only between 11 am and 4:30 pm, effectively limiting operations to roughly five to six hours a day. This drastic reduction is expected to disrupt the routine of thousands of passengers who rely on the Metro for regular travel.
What has added to commuter frustration is the frequency of these revisions. This marks the third change in Metro timings within a span of just 100 days, leaving passengers
struggling to keep up with the shifting schedules and constantly readjusting their daily plans.
Fewer Trips, Longer Waiting Time
In addition to reduced operational hours, the number of daily trips has also been cut. While earlier 13 trips were scheduled, the revised timetable brings this number down to just 9. This reduction is likely to lead to longer waiting times at stations and increased crowding inside trains, especially during peak hours.
The new Metro schedule is expected to hit office-goers, students, and regular travellers the hardest.
Those who depend on early morning services to reach workplaces or educational institutions will find themselves without a reliable option, while limited evening services may further complicate return journeys.
Lack Of Clarity On Reasons
The Metro Corporation has not provided a detailed explanation for the repeated changes in timings.
However, the revisions are believed to be linked to operational constraints and ongoing maintenance requirements aimed at improving long-term efficiency.
Advisory For Passengers
In light of the revised schedule, passengers are advised to check updated timings before planning their journeys to avoid inconvenience.
With limited Metro services now in place, careful planning has become essential for daily commuters.
