A woman was caught on CCTV allegedly stealing jewellery from a house in Jaipur’s Muhana area and later threatened to strip and call the police after she was confronted by the homeowner and found herself locked inside the premises, police said.
According to the police, the homeowner had earlier installed CCTV cameras after suspecting repeated thefts, including an earlier incident in which jewellery and cash worth around Rs 7 lakh were allegedly stolen from the flat.
The complainant claimed he suspected a woman living in a neighbouring flat.
Theft Caught On Camera
On Thursday, the homeowner and his family had gone out when he checked CCTV footage on his mobile phone and allegedly saw the woman entering his flat around 8:15 pm, Dainik Bhaskar reported.
The footage reportedly
showed her opening a cupboard and searching through a box containing jewellery and other valuables. He immediately alerted a neighbour and asked them to lock the main gate from outside before rushing back home.
When the homeowner returned, the woman was still inside the house and was confronted outside the locked gate. A video recorded by the homeowner shows her shouting and threatening him during the confrontation.
In the video, she can be heard saying, “I will tear off my clothes. Police will catch you,” allegedly attempting to intimidate him with the threat of a false case.
Police said the woman was eventually brought under control after officers reached the spot following information from the homeowner. A case has been registered based on the homeowner’s complaint.
