Agartala, Sep 9 (PTI) The Election Commission of India on Wednesday revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tripura, taking into account the upcoming elections to the Village Committees under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), an official said.
The revised schedule was communicated to Chief Electoral Officer, Brijesh Pandey, on Wednesday after the state election machinery sought a postponement of the exercise to avoid an overlap with the Village Committee election process.
The Village Committee elections will be held on September 28.
“Under the new schedule, the groundwork for the SIR will begin on October 27 and will continue till November 5. The preparatory phase will include
training of election personnel and printing of materials required for the revision”, according to an official notification by the ECI.
The SIR was scheduled to be kicked off across the state from September 5.
It said, “The crucial house-to-house verification exercise will follow from November 6 to December 5. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households during this period to verify electoral details and identify entries that may require correction or updating.” “The Commission has also fixed December 5 as the deadline for rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations,” it stated.
It added, “The draft electoral roll will be published on December 12. The window will remain open from December 12, 2026 to January 10, 2027.” It said, the process of disposing of claims and objections, along with the prescribed notice procedures will continue from December 12, 2026 to February 9, 2027. The final electoral roll will be published on February 15, with January 01, 2027 fixed as the qualifying date for enrolment under the revised schedule. PTI COR RG
