Chandigarh, Apr 1 (PTI) Punjab Finance and Transport Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday directed officials to clear pending Registration Certificate (RC) and Driving Licence (DL) applications within a fixed timeline to improve public services.
Chairing a review meeting of the Transport Department, the minister said applications pending at verification and approval stages should be disposed of at the earliest.
He said the state government is committed to ensure timely delivery of services and all delayed cases will be closely monitored.
Cheema said the department is collecting data on pending applications and reasons for delays to fix accountability and speed up the process.
He also asked officials to ensure timely disposal of applications
under faceless and contactless services.
The minister directed that the backlog in printing of RCs and DLs be cleared on priority to reduce inconvenience to the public.
He said steps are also being taken to improve road safety through better monitoring, including use of traffic cameras.
Cheema added that efforts are underway to improve public transport services by reviewing schedules and covering remaining routes. PTI VSD NB NB
