Smriti Mandhana is now the second-highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket. The left-handed batter from Maharashtra leapfrogged New Zealand great Suzie Bates in the list of batters with the most runs in women’s international cricket during India’s Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Group A match against Thailand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (August 30).
Mandhana scored 19 runs off 10 balls before being run out on the sixth ball of the third over. She now has 10,856 runs to her name in women’s international cricket.
Mandhana needed four runs on Sunday to surpass Bates’ tally and opened her account by hitting Thailand spinner Phannita Maya for a boundary off the second ball of India’s innings.

Mithali finished her international career with 10,868 runs, including 699 in Tests, 7,805 in ODIs and 2,364 in T20Is. Mandhana, meanwhile, has scored 788 runs in Tests, 5,411 in ODIs and 4,657 in T20Is.
Mandhana, who is India’s highest run-scorer in women’s T20Is, now needs 113 more runs to surpass Mithali’s tally and become the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket.
Mandhana vs Thailand in Asia Cup 2026
Mandhana made a strong start in India’s Women’s Asia Cup 2026 match against Thailand on Sunday, hitting four boundaries during her stay at the crease. However, while attempting to complete a second run off the last ball of the third over, she was run out.
Before making her way back to the pavilion, Mandhana added 38 runs for the first wicket with Shafali Verma in three overs.
At the end of 10 overs, India were cruising at 101/2, with Shafali batting on 59 off 29 balls. The right-handed batter from Rohtak, has smashed eight fours and three sixes for the Women in Blue so far.
She also added 53 runs off 36 balls for the second wicket with debutant Pratika Rawal.
Pratika, who is making her T20I debut for India on Sunday, scored 22 runs off 18 balls while batting at No. 3. She hit two fours and a six before Suleeporn Laomi breached her defence with the sixth ball of the ninth over.
