New Delhi, Jul 21 (PTI) Many parts of the national capital witnessed moderate rainfall under a generally cloudy sky on Tuesday, bringing down temperatures across Delhi, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast more rain accompanied by strong surface winds during the night and over the next three days.
In the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am, Safdarjung recorded 10.6 mm of rainfall, Palam 15 mm, Lodhi Road 12.2 mm, Ridge 18.6 mm and Ayanagar 17.4 mm.
Between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Tuesday, Palam received another 9.6 mm of rainfall, Safdarjung 0.6 mm, Lodhi Road 0.8 mm and Ayanagar 17.7 mm, while Ridge recorded only a trace of rain.
The IMD has forecast generally cloudy skies with moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong
surface winds reaching up to 40 kmph during the night.
Similar conditions are likely on Wednesday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to settle around 32 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 69 at 4 pm on Tuesday, placing it in the “satisfactory” category.

Day temperatures remained well below normal across the city. Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 31.2 degrees Celsius, 3.7 notches below normal; Palam 30.7 degrees Celsius, 4.2 notches below normal; Lodhi Road 31.1 degrees Celsius, 2.9 notches below normal; Ridge 30.9 degrees Celsius, 3.1 notches below normal; and Ayanagar 29.4 degrees Celsius, 5.4 notches below normal.
The minimum temperature also remained below normal at most stations. Safdarjung recorded 25.6 degrees Celsius, 1.7 notches below normal; Palam 23.6 degrees Celsius, 3.3 notches below normal; Lodhi Road 25 degrees Celsius, 1 notch below normal; Ridge 22.4 degrees Celsius, 3.9 notches below normal; and Ayanagar 25.8 degrees Celsius, 0.6 notch below normal.
