A video showing a man allegedly cutting part of a structural column from the balcony of a high-rise apartment has sparked shock and concern online. The clip, filmed from another building nearby, shows workers standing on the sixth floor of a tall residential tower while carrying out the risky task several floors above the ground.
The footage has left many social media users worried about the safety of the building and the people living inside it. Several users questioned how such work could happen in a residential society without intervention from authorities or neighbours.
Video Shows Work On High-Rise Balcony
The clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “This guy who lives in this block of flats cuts a structural column on the 6th floor of his 20-story building
to improve the view.”
The video appears to show a man and another worker standing on a balcony attached to the sixth floor of a tall apartment building.
The camera, recorded from another nearby tower, captures the height of the structure and the risky nature of the work.
In the footage, one of the men can be seen cutting into a thick concrete column placed near the balcony area. Pieces of the structure appear to have already been removed.
The camera zooms in to show the workers balancing at the edge while handling tools several floors above the ground. The building itself looks like a large residential tower with multiple balconies stacked above one another.
As the clip continues, the camera pans slightly, giving viewers a better idea of how high the apartment stands and how close nearby buildings are.

Internet Raises Safety Concerns
As the video spread online, users reacted with both jokes and concern over the possible danger of damaging a load-bearing structure in a high-rise building.
A user asked Grok where the clip was filmed. The AI chatbot replied, “This video was taken in China. It shows a resident on the 6th floor of a 20-story apartment building cutting through a structural (load-bearing) column to open up the balcony view. The clip has circulated since at least January 2026.”
Another user joked, “This is the kind of out-of-the-box thinking I admire.”
Others, however, questioned the safety of the act. “I honestly think that’s dangerous any engineers to confirm this,” a person wrote.
“But he must have pulled a permit?” another user asked sarcastically.
Someone else commented, “He may be an idiot but what about the other people in society why they are silent.”
A user wrote, “Bro thinks gravity is a myth. Editing a 20-story building like it’s Minecraft is wild. Suggestion: Check your neighbour’s IQ before signing a lease.”
Another person said, “These types of people should be jailed. He has put in danger the whole building and people living inside and nearby…also their hard earned money is wasted.”
