World No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma entered his name in the history books on Sunday (December 14) by becoming the fastest Indian batter in terms of innings taken to hit 300 sixes in T20s. Abhishek needed
three sixes in the third India-South Africa T20I to reach the 300 sixes mark in T20s, and he achieved the feat during the fifth over of the run chase. On the first ball of the fifth over, he hammered Ottneil Baartman for a six to take his tally of sixes to 300 in the 20-over format of the game.
Abhishek needed only 163 innings to complete a triple century of sixes in T20s. Before him the record of being the fastest Indian to hit 300 sixes in T20s was in the name of KL Rahul.
Rahul smacked his 300th six in the 205th T20 innings. Suryakumar Yadav is third on the list. He scored his 300th six in the 251st T20 match.
Abhishek opened his and India’s account by smacking Lungi Ngidi for a six on the first ball of the run chase, and his second six of the match came on the last ball of the second over bowled by Marco Jansen.
Out of his 300 sixes in T20s, Abhishek has smashed 107 in 2025 itself.
The record of scoring the most sixes in T20s by an Indian batter is in the name of Rohit Sharma. Rohit has played 463 T20 matches so far and scored 547 sixes. He is followed by Virat Kohli (435 sixes in 414 matches), Suryakumar Yadav (395 sixes in 345 matches), Sanju Samson (368 sixes in 319 matches), MS Dhoni (350 sixes in 405 matches), KL Rahul (332 sixes in 239 matches), Suresh Raina (325 sixes in 336 matches) and Hardik Pandya (308 sixes in 313 matches).
