New Delhi, Jun 18 (PTI) Delhi government has announced a series of competitions for government employees and officials as part of the Hindi Diwas celebrations in September.
According to a circular issued on June 16 by the Art, Culture and Language Department, the competitions will be organised to encourage greater use of Hindi in official work and to promote the language among employees working in various departments, autonomous bodies and institutions under the Delhi government.
The competitions will be held from September 14 to 18, it stated.
The schedule includes a Hindi essay writing competition on September 14, a Hindi noting and drafting competition on September 15, a Hindi debate competition on September 16, a Hindi shorthand competition on September 17,
and Hindi typing competitions (oral and written) on September 18, it read.
The department said employees from Delhi government and its autonomous bodies, including civic agencies, transport organisations, police, district courts and other affiliated institutions, are eligible to participate.
Participation in all competitions will be free of cost.
A prize money between Rs 4,000 and Rs 800 will be awarded based on ranks.
As per the circular, entries must be forwarded through the concerned departments. Nominations must reach the department by September 11.
The competitions will be conducted in different categories based on employees’ ranks and pay levels. Essay writing, noting-drafting and debate contests will have separate categories for gazetted officers, non-gazetted employees, teachers and multi-tasking staff, it said.
The Hindi shorthand competition will involve a five-minute dictation at a speed of 100 words per minute, followed by transcription. Both Hindi typing competitions will be of five minutes’ duration, with a prescribed speed of 30 words per minute, it added. PTI SHB RUK RUK
