Mumbai University has postponed the Winter 2025 examination schedule yet again. This time due to the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad elections. The exams which were initially postponed due to the Brihanmumbai
Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections and have now been rescheduled again.
The university notified students and staff that the exams, originally set for mid-January, have been rescheduled to February. The exams that were initially scheduled to be conducted on January 14 was postponed to February 4, 2026 due to the municipal elections. These exams will now take place on February 17, 2026. The papers slated to be conducted on January 15, 2026 was deferred to February 5, 2026 but now has been postponed to February 18, 2026. All Papers scheduled to be held on January 16, 2026 were initially postponed to February 6, 2026 but now has been deferred to February 20, 2026.
Additionally, exams originally scheduled for February 7, 2026, have been postponed to February 21, 2026, due to the Zilla Parishad elections.
“The Heads, University Departments, Director, Thane & Kalyan Sub Centre, the Director (CDOE) and the Principals of all the affiliated Colleges in All Faculty are hereby informed that the examinations (Winter 2025) were Postponed due to the Election of Municipal Corporations and are furthered revised due to Election of Zillah Parishad,” states the official notice.
In an official circular dated January 20, the university informed the Heads of University Departments, Directors of Thane and Kalyan Sub Centres, the Director (CDOE), and the Principals of all affiliated colleges that the Winter 2025 examinations, previously postponed due to Municipal Corporation elections, are further revised because of the Zilla Parishad elections.
The Mumbai University official notice further stated that the examination timings will remain unchanged as per the original schedule. University departments, college principals, and concerned authorities have been directed to inform students and staff about the revised dates at the earliest.
The University of Mumbai was established in 1857. The university received a 5-star status in 2001 and was awarded an ‘A++’ grade in April 2017 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
