Chandigarh, May 19 (PTI) The ongoing heat wave sweeping Punjab and Haryana further intensified on Tuesday, with Faridkot sizzling at a day-temperature of 47.3 degrees Celsius and Rohtak registering 46.9 degrees Celsius, the meteorological office said.
At several other places in the two northern states, maximum temperatures hovered close to the 45-degree Celsius mark.
The maximum temperature further rose in Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recording 43.2 degrees Celsius, over four notches above normal limits and more than one notch compared to Monday’s maximum, according to the Met here.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 44.4 degrees Celsius, over six notches above normal, while Hisar recorded a high of 45.3 degrees Celsius, four
notches above normal.
Karnal recorded a high of 44.6 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, while Narnaul also braved a hot day at 45 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.
Sirsa also sizzled at 46.4 degrees Celsius, while Bhiwani recorded a high of 42.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum at Gurugram settled at 43.2 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, a heat wave swept Amritsar, which recorded a high of 43.2 degrees Celsius, over three notches above normal limits.
Ludhiana recorded a high of 44.2 degrees Celsius, over four degrees above normal, while Patiala recorded a high of 45.3 degrees Celsius, six notches more than normal.
Gurdaspur recorded a high of 43 degrees Celsius while Ferozepur registered a high of 42.9 degrees Celsius. PTI SUN SHS
