Telugu actor and reality show personality Ashu Reddy is back in the spotlight, this time for both personal and legal reasons. Just weeks after her name surfaced in an alleged Rs 9.35 crore cheating case in Hyderabad, the former Bigg Boss Telugu contestant surprised fans by sharing pictures from her engagement ceremony on social media.
On Friday, Ashu posted a series of photos on Instagram, giving followers a glimpse of the celebration. One picture showed her holding a man’s hand while flaunting a gold-and-diamond engagement ring featuring infinity symbols. Another monochrome image captured her admiring the ring, while a separate photo showed her fiancé gently holding her hand. Though the setup appeared to reflect a traditional Telugu engagement ceremony,
Ashu did not reveal the identity of her fiancé or share any additional details.

The engagement comes amid an ongoing investigation involving allegations made by a Hyderabad-based family. In April, the Hyderabad Central Crime Station (CCS) registered a case against Ashu and her family members after a complaint was filed by Yenumula Satyanarayana Murthy on behalf of his son, YV Dharmendra, a software engineer based in the UK.
According to the complaint, Dharmendra met Ashu in 2018 and entered into a relationship with her after she allegedly promised marriage. The family claimed that over time, he spent ₹9.35 crore on luxury cars, gold and properties that were allegedly registered in Ashu’s name. The complaint also alleged that Ashu later backed out of the marriage.
Apart from Ashu, the case also names her father Venkata Krishna Koyya, mother Koyya Yashoda Reddy and sister Venkata Divya Reddy Koyya. The complaint further claimed that Ashu’s sister borrowed ₹50 lakh from Dharmendra and did not return the money.
Speaking to Siasat, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes/Detective Department) S Chaitanya Kumar confirmed that the matter is under investigation. “Inquiry is still going on. Prima facie, a first information report (FIR) has been issued in what appears to be a live-in relationship case. The luring of money happened in close proximity with the person,” he said.
He added, “After getting to know she is an actress, we started a deeper investigation and thus cannot disclose every detail at the moment. The complainant is also not in a position to share more details.”
Ashu later responded to the allegations through social media, warning against the spread of false information. “Without my consent, any news or false information that is passing through, will be taken a severe legal action. Respect,” she wrote.
Soon after, Ashu approached the High Court for the State of Telangana seeking protection against defamatory content circulating online. Referring to the court’s order, she shared, “The Hon’ble High Court of Telangana, by its order dated 29.04.2026 in CRP No.1346 of 2026, has restrained the media houses, content creators and platforms from publishing anything defamatory about me. Please respect the order. Please respect my privacy. The matter is in court, and the court will decide it.”
In another statement, she appealed for restraint while the matter remains before the court. “I am not asking anyone to stop reporting on matters of genuine public concern. I am only asking, with folded hands, that my privacy, my dignity and my reputation. which the Constitution itself protects under Article 21, be honored while the courts do their work,” she said.
Ashu first became popular on social media as the “Dubsmash queen” and gained further attention for her resemblance to Samantha Ruth Prabhu. She later appeared in films like Focus and Spark, besides participating in Bigg Boss Telugu and Bigg Boss Non-Stop.
