Thane, Jun 24 (PTI) A businessman from Thane district was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly circulating an abusive and objectionable video targeting Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, police said.
Mundhe has launched a massive campaign against the selling of adulterated food products and gutkha.
Raids have been conducted regularly on sweet marts, hotels, and pan kiosks, leading to the seizure of adulterated dairy products like paneer and mawa, as well as banned gutkha.
The accused businessman, Durgaprasad Pandey, allegedly released a video criticising Mundhe’s working style. In the footage, he challenged the senior official, accusing him of targeting small-time vendors and pan-shop owners merely to garner
public praise, police said.
He dared Mundhe to shut down large manufacturing factories and stop the influx of banned substances at the source, adding abusive remarks at the end.
Khadakpada Police in Kalyan tracked down Pandey and arrested him, an official said, adding that a case is being registered. PTI COR NSK
