Noida, Aug 11 (PTI) A 19-year-old woman from Assam was found dead at a paying guest accommodation in Noida’s Baraula area, with police suspecting the involvement of a man who had accompanied her to the city in search of a private job, officials said on Tuesday.
The woman was found dead on Monday in a room adjacent to the one where she was staying, police said, adding that the man who had accompanied her has since absconded.
“On Monday, information was received at Sector 49 police station that a 19-year-old woman had been found dead in a PG in Baraula,” police said.
Police said the woman had come to Noida with a friend in search of a private job, and efforts were underway to arrest the absconding male accused.
“The crime scene has been inspected
by forensic and field unit teams. An inquest report (panchayatnama) has been prepared, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination,” police said.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of law and further legal action is underway, police said.
In another incident, a 24-year-old newly married woman, identified as Kamini, allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 16th floor of a residential society in Sector 108 on Sunday, police said.
Her husband, Manthan Dhiman (27), told police that she was suffering from mental depression, but her family subsequently lodged a dowry-related complaint against him, following which he was arrested, police said.
The couple had married about a month ago and had been in a live-in relationship for two-three years, police said.
According to Sector 39 police, Kamini jumped from the 16th floor of Divine Meadows Society and was taken to a hospital by her husband, where doctors declared her dead. A forensic team inspected the scene and the body was sent for post-mortem after inquest proceedings.
A case has been registered on the complaint of the woman’s family and further legal action is underway, police said. PTI COR KIS NB NB
