Kangana Ranaut has hit back at Naseeruddin Shah days after the veteran actor questioned Bollywood’s silence over the student protests. After calling him a “lomdi” in an earlier social media post, the BJP MP has now explained why she spoke out, bringing up the protests in Jharkhand, the Parliament security breach and what she called hypocrisy in the film industry.
Why Kangana Called Naseeruddin Shah A ‘Lomdi’
The latest exchange began after Naseeruddin Shah spoke about Bollywood celebrities who had not publicly supported students protesting over education reforms. In an interview with The Wire, Shah said, “They’ll do it when their conscience tells them to. There’s a saying: a dog with a bone in its mouth can’t bark. As soon as the bone drops out of
their mouth, or it breaks their teeth, then they will bark.”
Kangana reacted to it on Instagram Stories, saying she would rather be called a dog than a “lomdi” like Shah. She also accused him of eating from India while fighting for a neighbouring country.
Speaking about why she had criticised the veteran actor, Kangana said, “Maine unko isliye kaha, kyunki unhone itna ganda ek video banaya tha, jismein woh is tarah ki dhamkiyan de rahe the, is tarah ki baatein kar rahe the, jo sarvoch hamare jo representatives hain poori duniya mein, jinko Pradhan Mantri ji ko itne bade-bade awards milte hain. Aur nahin toh unhe utni toh democracy ki garima rakhni chahiye ki ek elected, woh hamare samvidhan ke hisaab se, humein unka samman karna chahiye.”

Kangana Questions Bollywood’s Pakistan References
Kangana also returned to an issue she has raised in several of her political and industry-related comments, accusing sections of Bollywood of being too sympathetic towards Pakistan. She said, “Aur jab dekho, chahe unki filmein hon, chahe unki baatein ho, chahe unke interviews ho, yeh Pakistan ke prem katha kab khatam hogi? Jab dekho Pakistan ke prem mein ye mare rehte hain. Toh main jaanna chahti hoon ki ab Partition ko bhi itne saal ho gaye hain. Toh ye love story khatam kyun nahi ho rahi hai? Jab itne zyada, chahe woh Pahalgam attack ho, chahe humne Operation Sindoor se door kiya ho. Desh kahin aur ja raha hai, sena kahin aur ja rahi hai, nagrikon ka kahin kuch aur jo hai sangharsh hai padosi deshon ko lekar, toh ye Bollywood ki love story Pakistan ke saath khatam kab hogi? Toh they are answerable for this.”
Naseeruddin Shah’s original comments were about the silence of prominent Bollywood personalities over the student protests.
