In a major relief for Lucknow’s regular commuters, the Daliganj to Samta Mulak intersection stretch of the Green Corridor is likely to open from February 22, 2026. According to reports, the stretch, aimed at resolving the congestion challenges faced by locals, will be inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Green Corridor was constructed by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and will transport commuters to some of the city’s busiest regions while avoiding existing congestion issues. The vast 57-km-long stretch bridges the distance between IIM Road and Kisan Path.
Lucknow Green Corridor’s Second Phase To Open
Envisaged as a signal-free urban road network, the corridor project has also witnessed
the construction and installation of bridges, road overbridges (ROBs), embankments between Daliganj and Hanuman Setu, which are now also provided to the Hanuman Setu-Nishatganj stretch, as well as Nishatganj to Samta Mulak path.
The road authorities had earlier instructed the remainder of the work to be finished as soon as possible. Once operational, the corridor is expected to significantly reduce the existing time taken in reaching or mobilising from areas like Nishatganj, Hanuman Setu, University Chowk, Lucknow University campus, and Daliganj. The travel time from Gomtinagar to Daliganj will be reduced to 5-7 minutes.
The overall estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,078 crore, including Rs 28 crore for the construction of a two-lane overbridge near Hanuman Setu. A further Rs 50 crore was reportedly spent on a four-lane overbridge near the Nishatganj embankment and an additional Rs 58 crore on making a four-lane road from Nishatganj to Kukrail bridge, the Times of India reported.
People Excited Over The Lucknow Green Corridor
As a video related to the inauguration of the Lucknow Green Corridor’s Daliganj-Samta Mulak stretch caught people’s attention online, they were excited for the reduced travel times.
“This is great. Now we can reach the Khatu Shyam Baba temple (Rajasthan) early,” mentioned a devotee.
Another citizen hoped that the government would ensure no bottlenecks, saying, “I hope this doesn’t lead to several bottlenecks and the overall planning is good.”
“This looks best for travellers,” commented a person.
Also in the plans is the third phase of the corridor, which is expected to enhance the road connectivity by extending and widening the existing paths. Construction of additional flyovers, service roads and improvement of junctions along the remaining stretches will also be made. The technical clearances for the third phase are already in discussion.
