Kamal Haasan Congratulates ‘Dear Friend’ Mammootty For Padma Bhushan, Says ‘We Should Meet In Person More…’

The Padma Awards 2026, one of the highest civilian awards of the country, were announced yesterday, on the eve of Republic Day. While later actor Dharmendra was awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously, Malayalam superstar Mammootty and playback singer Alka Yagnik were named for the Padma Bhushan awards. Now, actor Kamal Haasan has penned a heartfelt note for Mammootty, celebrating his Padma Bhushan honour. He wrote that while they haven’t acted in any film together, they often give each other honest feedback and appreciate each other’s films.

Kamal Haasan’s Note For Mammootty  

On Sunday, Kamal Haasan took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote a note in Tamil for Mammootty. The translated post read, “My dear friend @mammukka has been announced as a Padma

Bhushan awardee. We haven’t acted together, but we have long maintained a ‘Kopperuncholan Pisiranthaiyar’ friendship—appreciating each other from afar and giving each other honest feedback. Now it feels like we should meet in person a little more often.”

He added, “As a Mammootty fan, my wish is that my fans also become his fans. Friend Mammootty, now Padma Bhushan has become Mammootty. Congratulations to my friend.” Check out his post below!

Meanwhile, Manju Warrier also reacted to Mammootty receiving the Padma Bhushan. She shared a post on Instagram that read, “Congratulations, Mammookka! And thank you for showing us how boundaries are broken and challenges are taken up, with a smile! You’re our pride, and one of a kind! @mammootty #padmabhushan And hearty congratulations to all the Padma Awardees!”

Jr NTR also congratulated all the Padma awardees. In his note on X, the RRR star wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to all the #PadmaAwards 2026 winners.
