New Delhi, Apr 12 (PTI) A 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries after allegedly being struck by a car in the Tilak Nagar area of west Delhi, police said.
The incident occurred on April 5 at around 10.30 am near Capital Model School in Mukherjee Park. A call to the police control room regarding the accident was received at 10.45 am, prompting a police team to rush to the scene.
By the time the police arrived, the injured individual, identified as Jasmeet Singh, a resident of Mukherjee Park, had already been taken to a nearby hospital by locals. Singh operates a dry fruit shop in Tilak Nagar, according to the police.
A team later reached the hospital where Singh was undergoing treatment. In his statement to the police, Singh said that he was hit
by a speeding car driven by a reckless individual.
Following Singh’s statement and a preliminary inquiry, a case was registered, leading to the arrest of the accused driver, identified as Santosh (22), a Shyam Nagar resident. The vehicle involved in the accident has also been seized as part of the investigation. CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the car hitting the motorcycle and then fleeing the scene, according to the police.
“Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the accident,” a police officer said. PTI BM MPL MPL
