Gujarat Titans opening batter B Sai Sudharsan entered his name in the history books on Thursday (May 21) by becoming the second Indian cricketer to score five half-centuries in a row in the IPL. Before Sudharsan, only Virender Sehwag had managed to score five IPL fifties in a row among Indian batters. Sehwag, who played in the IPL for Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab),
scored five 50s in five matches for DC during the 2012 edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league.
Apart from Gill and Sehwag, two more batters—Jos Buttler and David Warner—have also managed to score five back-to-back IPL fifties. While Buttler achieved the feat for Rajasthan Royals in 2018, Warner scored five half-centuries in a row for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2019 edition.
