Climate change is no longer a distant threat; it’s a reality felt in our skies, cities, and communities. From social media campaigns to environmental initiatives and creative projects, the urgency to protect nature has become a global conversation.
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah highlighted the critical importance of immediate action during the screening of his short film It’s Only 47°C.
Naseeruffin Shah On Climate Crisis: ‘I Have Not Seen Blue Sky For Months’
Reflecting on the changing environment, he said, “I don’t know much about the technicalities. I learned what I have learned from Harish (Borah) and from my own experiences of not having seen a blue sky for months.”
Speaking about how the weather has become unpredictable over the past few years,
Naseeruddin Shah highlighted how climate change has made life difficult for the common man.
“It has started to snow in places where it never used to rain, and it rains in areas where homes are not prepared for it. Unseasonal rains sometimes damage crops. These are the things I’ve personally witnessed. And though I must admit I am one of the guilty parties, we may not live in air-conditioned houses, but we’ve still contributed to polluting the atmosphere,” he said.
Naseeruddin Shah On Finding Solutions For The Planet
Reflecting on possible solutions, the veteran actor added, “I don’t know what exact amends we can make, but it’s important to at least realise the impact of our actions and try to find solutions for the future, for ourselves and the planet.”
He added that the Earth has existed for millions of years without humans, so the real concern is not the planet but ourselves. “We are the ones who are going to be affected ultimately,” Naseeruddin Shah said, urging everyone to do their part in preserving the environment.
