‘When My Time Comes…’: Abhay Deol Pens Emotional Note Remembering Dharmendra, Shares Childhood Memory

Veteran actor Dharmendra’s death on 24th November left his family, fans, and loved ones mourning. He passed away in Mumbai, just two weeks before his 90th birthday. Now, on his 90th birth anniversary, his nephew Abhay Deol has shared an emotional note on Instagram, sharing a precious childhood memory with him. He shared a rare throwback photo, recalling a moment when he was upset and Dharmendra had called him over, telling him to ‘look at the light’ for the photograph. He wrote that he looks forward to hearing those words from him once again, when his own time comes.

On Monday, Abhay Deol took to his Instagram to share a major throwback photo with his uncle Dharmendra. In his caption, he wrote, “Must’ve been 1985 or ‘86. I had just been scolded

so I was upset. He called me to him, sat me down by his side and said, “look at the light”, and had the photographer click this pic. I look forward to the moment I hear him say those words to me again, when my time comes. Today was his birthday.” Check out his post below!

Abhay Deol’s post left netizens emotional. “What a lovely post for a lovely human being… big hugs Abhay and Dharam ji wherever you are in the light,” wrote actress Sandhya Mridul, while Zoya Akhtar and Manish Malhotra dropped red heart emojis, sending love to Abhay Deol.

Esha Deol Remembers Dad Dharmendra

Dharmendra’s daughter and actress Esha Deol also remembered the late actor and shared an emotional post. In her post on his birth anniversary today, Esha shared a picture with her father and began by writing, “To my darling Papa. Our pact, the strongest bond. ‘us’ through all our lifetimes, all the realms and beyond… We are always together, papa. Be it heaven or earth. We are one.”

She continued, “For now I have very tenderly, carefully & preciously tucked you in my heart… deep, deep inside to carry on with me for the rest of this lifetime.”

She then reflected on what he meant to her. “The magical, precious memories… life lessons, the teachings, the guidance, the warmth, the unconditional love, the dignity and the strength you have given me as your daughter cannot be replaced or matched by any other.”

Describing how deeply she misses him, Esha went on to add, “I so painfully miss you, papa… your warm, protective hugs that felt like the cosiest blanket, holding your soft yet strong hands which had unspoken messages & your voice calling out my name that followed with endless conversations, laughter & shayaris. Your motto ‘always be humble, be happy, healthy & strong’.”

Esha ended her message with a promise. “I promise to continue your legacy with pride & respect. And I will try my best to spread your love to the millions who love you as I do.”
