Latur, Sept 10 (PTI) A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Maharashtra’s Latur district for allegedly stealing a two-wheeler, tampering with its chassis and engine numbers and changing the colour, officials have said.
The theft came to light after cops intercepted Ankush Babasaheb Nagargoje on the main road between Renapur Naka and Borwati on Tuesday when he was allegedly going to sell the motorcycle.
As Nagargoje failed to provide documents for the vehicle, a Royal Enfield Bullet, police questioned him further. The man told police that he and his accomplice Suraj Balasaheb Gaikwad had stolen it from Latur city in February last year.
An official said the original colour of the motorcycle had been changed and its chassis and engine numbers had been tampered
with to prevent the vehicle from being identified.
Nagargoje has been arrested and a probe into the case is underway, the official added. PTI COR NR
