In 2015, when he was in sixth grade, a motorbike accident shattered all the dreams of a student from Purulia. As a result of the accident, the student became paralysed. Since then, his only companion has been a wheelchair. However, this accident did not end his dreams permanently; instead, it marked the beginning of his indomitable fight.
Chandan Majhi from Kanikesa village in Bagmundi block of Purulia embarked on his relentless journey and successfully passed the NEET Medical exam through his talent and determination. Despite this achievement, he faced harassment during the assessment of his physical disability.
After passing the NEET Medical exam, Chandan first visited SSKM Hospital to get his physical disability assessed. Unfortunately, SSKM Hospital rejected
his application. Disheartened but not defeated, he sought justice in court. The Calcutta High Court, through a bench of Justice Biswajit Basu, ordered that he be sent to Lady Hardinge Hospital in Delhi for a second assessment. There, he was deemed fit to study medicine and permitted to pass the exam.
Chandan Majhi’s journey to this point is a testament to his talent and indomitable spirit.
