Lucknow has added a new attraction for visitors who want to explore the city in a relaxed and organised way. A newly launched electric double-decker bus is giving tourists a chance to see major landmarks while enjoying an open view from the upper deck. The service is part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s efforts to promote eco-friendly tourism in the state capital.
The bright orange bus, introduced under the ‘Lucknow Darshan’ initiative, is already drawing attention. A recent video showing the bus moving through wide city roads has sparked curiosity, with many people asking how they can book a seat and what places are included in the tour.
A Video Shows The New Bus In Action
A clip shared on X on January 9 shows the electric double-decker bus
travelling smoothly through Lucknow’s roads. The video gives a clear view of the bus from above, highlighting its size, design, and elevated seating. The caption reads, “Lucknow Darshan” from newly inaugurated tourist sightseeing EV double decker bus.”
Since being posted, the clip has crossed 9,000 views and received several comments. While some users asked about booking details, one comment offered a simple suggestion: “Pro tip – take the forward-most seat of the upper deck.”

What The Lucknow Darshan Bus Offers
The electric bus has two decks and can seat up to 66 passengers. It is designed to provide a guided city tour while keeping pollution low. The service runs every day and operates in two slots: one in the morning and one in the evening. Both tours begin from 1090 Chauraha.
The morning tour runs from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. It covers The Residency, Vidhan Sabha Bhavan, Raj Bhavan, Christ Church Pro-Cathedral, UP Darshan Park, Ambedkar Park and the Gomti Riverfront. In addition, visitors get 40-minute stops at The Residency and Vidhan Sabha.
The evening tour runs from 4 pm to 7 pm and includes a Light and Sound Show at The Residency. It ends at Food Valley in Gomti Nagar.
Some Old City Areas Are Not Part Of The Route
The bus does not go to parts of old Lucknow such as Bada Imambara, Rumi Gate and Hussainabad Clock Tower. Officials reportedly explained that the bus is about 16 feet tall and cannot safely pass through low-clearance roads and overbridges in those areas.
Ticket Price and How to Book
The ticket costs Rs 500 for adults and Rs 400 for children between 5 and 12 years. A 10 per cent introductory discount is available till January 31. Tickets can be booked online through the UPSTDC website or bought on the spot by scanning a QR code inside the bus.
Extra Features For Tourists
The tour includes entry fees for all listed sites. A guide provides commentary in both Hindi and English. Tickets are printed on seed paper with tulsi seeds. The bus speed is capped at 50 kmph for safety, and the service runs daily even if only one passenger books a seat.
