The fourth T20I between India and New Zealand in Vizag on Wednesday, January 28, witnessed a hilarious piece of commentary by former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel. As New Zealand opener Tim Seifert
smashed India’s ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah for a maximum, Patel took a funny dig at Pakistan cricketer Sahibzada Farhan.
The incident happened during the fifth over of New Zealand’s first-innings batting effort. With Bumrah running in for the third ball, Seifert took the most serious toll on the great bowler’s rare half-volley. He dispatched it straight down the ground for a gigantic six.
Watching it from a distance, Hindi commentator Aakash Chopra described the stroke and emphasised how rare it is for a batter to fetch a six of this kind against the bowler of Bumrah’s calibre. Just then, Chopra’s colleague Parthiv said, “Ye kaamal ka shot khela hai Tim Seifert ne. Woh bhi Jasprit Bumrah ke khilaaf. Jyada tar aese shots lagte nahi hain. Par yeh toh documentary banayenge bhi nahi (what an extraordinary shot by Tim Seifert. That too against Jasprit Bumrah. You don’t often see such a shot hit against him, and I’m sure he won’t make a documentary about it).”

Parthiv caused hysteria with his remarks in a playful dig at Pakistani batter Sahibzada, who featured in a documentary made in Pakistan based on his exploits against Bumrah during the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai. As the aggressive right-hander hit the Indian great for a few sixes, he became an overnight sensation and was given a grand welcome back home, even as Pakistan lost all three of their Asia Cup clashes versus India, including the final.
Earlier in the season as well, the Hindi commentary box was the centre of a funny jibe on Sahibzada and his documentary. During the India-South Africa T20I series, Chopra referred to the Pakistani cricketer after the elegant Aiden Markram blazed Bumrah for a six in Cuttack.
“Bumrah ko chakka koi maar de itna aasan nahi hota. Kabhi lag jata hai toh log documentary bana lete hai (it’s not that easy to hit Bumrah for a six. When he does get hit, his opponents make documentaries about it),” Chopra said on air. The rarity of a six hit against Bumrah reflects in his astonishing numbers. The Indian match-winner has a career T20I economy rate of only 6.44 after 86 matches with 107 wickets.
