Karur (Tamil Nadu), Jul 5 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay will visit Karur on July 10 to take part in government functions and a public interaction programme, TVK leader M R Vijayabaskar said on Sunday.
Addressing the press here, Vijayabaskar said preparations are underway for the Chief Minister’s visit, which includes a ‘Makkal Sandhippu’ (public outreach) event. The official itinerary and venues will be announced by the state government shortly, he added.
The former minister also detailed his recent defection from the AIADMK. Following the 2026 assembly elections, which resulted in a fractured mandate, a faction of 25 MLAs suggested supporting TVK to form the government. “Due to differences of opinion over this, my district secretary post
was taken away,” he explained.
Subsequently, he officially joined TVK in the presence of its General Secretary, Bussy N Anand.
Vijayabaskar, who was welcomed by the Chief Minister at his Panaiyur office on Saturday, pledged to work alongside local TVK functionaries to ensure a massive victory in the upcoming Karur by-election.
He praised the current administration for its efforts to provide “transparent and corruption-free” governance. PTI JR JR ROH
