New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI) Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has appointed Sanjay Jamuar as the first CEO of Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL), a newly formed entity set up to undertake metro projects and operation and maintenance assignments in India outside Delhi as well as abroad.
DMIL has been established by DMRC with government support and has been mandated to take up metro projects, provide operation and maintenance services, and offer advisory support to authorities and lenders for the development and long-term planning of metro and transit systems, according to a statement.
It said the new entity will draw upon DMRC’s expertise in developing metro systems and is expected to expand its footprint globally by taking up projects in India
and overseas.
Jamuar, an ex-IRTS officer, has extensive experience across Indian Railways, DMRC and international assignments in the UK, the US, France, the Middle East and Europe, it stated.
He holds a postgraduate diploma in Strategic Leadership from Warwick Business School, UK, and has also carried out research work in transport economics at Leeds University, as per statement.
Interestingly, when Jamuar joined DMRC in 1998, he was its first operations and maintenance employee, making his return to the organisation akin to a homecoming, the corporation said.
DMRC is currently involved as a consultant in the Dhaka Metro project in Bangladesh and is handling key operation and maintenance contracts for the Chennai, Mumbai and Patna Metro projects, it said.
It has also worked as a consultant for almost all major metro projects in India and carried out construction work for metro systems in Mumbai, Jaipur and Patna, it added.
It added that DMIL is expected to further strengthen and expand DMRC’s presence in metro rail projects across the world. PTI SHB SKY SKY
