Thousands of passengers were left stranded for hours, resulting in overcrowded terminals, long queues, and growing frustration. Amid the disruption, however, a heartwarming video of IndiGo cabin crew members playing with a toddler at the airport captured widespread attention and won hearts on social media.

The child’s mother shared that their flight was delayed, but her little one ended up having a great time. The clip shows the crew lifting and entertaining the toddler while laughing and passing the time together. At a time when most posts about the airlines

The video posted on Instagram came with the caption, “Flights got cancelled, delayed what not. But the staff have always been great hosts. I have always travelled in Indigo and during this time, a lot of people have suffered. However, finding joy in little things matters the most. Flight got delayed, meanwhile my little one is enjoying with the staff.”

New DGCA Rules On Pilot Duty Hours Led To Crew Shortage

Despite several delays last week, IndiGo stabilised its operations by running 1650 flights out of its usual 2300 daily domestic and international flights on Sunday. Despite the Hard work, around 650 flights were still cancelled.

In a message shared with the staff internally, as per The New Indian Express, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers told employees that the airline’s On Time Performance (OTP) is expected to be 75 per cent on Sunday.

He said, “Today, we have realised further improvements of the system in order to reach around 1,650 flights. We have been able to execute the cancellations at an earlier stage so that the customers do not show up at the airport in case their flights are cancelled.”

Several IndiGo flights were cancelled and delayed after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) introduced new duty rules to reduce pilot tiredness and improve safety. These rules limit how long pilots can fly, how many night duties they can take and how much rest they must get. Because of these stricter limits, IndiGo faced crew shortages, which led to more than 100 flight cancellations in the first week of December.
