In a dramatic fallout from the fiery India-Pakistan encounters at the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has been slapped with a two-match suspension by the ICC, while India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar
Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah were fined their match fees for their roles in the on-field scuffle.
The ICC confirmed Rauf’s suspension on Tuesday after a series of disciplinary hearings led by match referees Richie Richardson and Andy Pycroft.
The decision means the fiery pacer will miss Pakistan’s first two ODIs against South Africa on November 4 and 6.
According to the ICC, Rauf accumulated four demerit points within 24 months, triggering an automatic ban.
His actions — including an alleged 6-0 hand gesture aimed at the crowd, referencing political tensions — were deemed a breach of the game’s code of conduct.
Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan was also fined 30% of his match fee and given one demerit point after celebrating his half-century with a controversial AK-47 gesture.
The incidents marred what had otherwise been a high-voltage Asia Cup showdown between the arch-rivals, with emotions clearly spilling over beyond the boundary lines.
The ICC has confirmed that further updates on the sanctions and statements from the respective boards are expected soon.
