Mahindra Thar has long been seen as a powerful SUV built for rough terrain and off-road adventures. But not, this car has also found itself linked to controversy. Be it risky driving videos or heated public
arguments, it keeps appearing in clips that trigger outrage online.
Across different cities, these incidents may not be connected, but one thing stands out. In each case, the presence of a Thar has pushed the moment into the spotlight.
Thar Seen Driving On Divider In Amroha
One such incident was reported from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, where a video showed a Thar being driven in a dangerous manner. Instead of staying on the road, the SUV was seen moving along the divider, with two tyres on the divider and the remaining two still on the road.
@amrohapolice देखिए जरा… pic.twitter.com/wZXG0SIx9P

The clip left many viewers shocked, and they took to the comments section to share their varied thoughts.
One user commented, “Thar gundo aur lafango ki pehchaan ban chuki hai (Thar has become the identity of goons and troublemakers).”
Another wrote, “Kuch log Thar chalate chalate apna mansik santulan kho baithte hai (Some people lose their mental balance while driving a Thar).”
After the video gained traction online, the Amroha police took action. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the police said, “Taking swift cognisance of a viral video on social media related to performing stunts with a Thar vehicle on the divider under the jurisdiction of Thana Gajraula, action was taken by Thana Gajraula and the Traffic Police Amroha, and the Thar vehicle was seized under the MV Act.”

Late-night Thar Drive Raises Safety Concerns
Another video doing the rounds on social media shows a Thar being driven at high speed late at night. The clip, recorded by a person in a vehicle behind it, captures the SUV overtaking a truck. Moments later, the Thar briefly swerves in a zig-zag pattern as the vehicle behind gets closer. The situation could have turned fatal if the following vehicle had been any closer.
The video was shared on X with the caption, “What are your observations? Why did the Thar behave like that?”

Argument Involving Woman, Policemen And Thar In Ghaziabad
The third incident, reported by Dainik Bhaskar, comes from Ghaziabad and does not involve reckless driving but a heated argument. According to the report, a woman had parked her car outside a house and blocked the entry. When the homeowner asked for the vehicle to be moved, the situation spiralled.

In the video, the woman can be heard shouting, “Main Jaat ki beti hoon. Poora Ghaziabad mera hai. Khade-khade 50 Thar khareed doongi. Bula, kisko bulaata hai… Bula na (I am a Jaat’s daughter. The entire Ghaziabad belongs to me. I can buy 50 Thars just standing here. Go ahead, call anyone… call them).”
She continues, “Tere parivaar mein vakil hain toh main khud bhi vakil hoon (If your family has lawyers, I am a lawyer myself),” and adds, “Yeh road tere baap ki nahi hai. Bula SHO ko, bula, chal bula… kisko bulaata hai. Main khadi hoon yahan. Main Jaat hoon, road par hum khade, tum kaise rok sakte ho. Mujhe samvidhaan mat sikhao.
Main khud vakil hoon (This road doesn’t belong to your father. Call the SHO, call… go ahead, call anyone. I am standing here. I am a Jaat. We are standing on the road, how can you stop us? Don’t teach me the Constitution. I am a lawyer myself).”
The homeowner, identified as Abhishek Nehra, told Dainik Bhaskar that multiple cars were parked on the ramp outside his house. He alleged that one of the policemen threatened him by saying, “Main Nivadi thana ka daroga hoon, zyada bola toh tujhe utha kar thana le jaunga (I am a sub-inspector from Nivadi police station. If you speak too much, I’ll pick you up and take you to the station).”
As the argument intensified, another policeman was seen asking the woman to sit inside the car. Soon after, all of them left the spot in their vehicles.
Following the incident, the report mentioned that the woman and the two policemen later reached Nivadi police station. Based on a complaint, an FIR was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Abhishek Nehra and another individual named Shubham.
The report further stated that Abhishek had too filed a complaint but alleged that no action have been taken against the woman and the policemen.
