Former Indian all-rounder lauded GT star Sai Sudharsan’s masterful 84 run knock against the Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday in the IPL 2026 encounter between the sides.
The former CSK spinner was in awe of the southpaw’s ability to make quick runs while sticking to classic batsmanship.
Once Sai Su gets on a roll, he is impossible to stop him.
He doesn’t make runs like the modern day T 20 batter, but finds ways to throw bowlers off.

“Once Sai Su gets on a roll, he is impossible to stop him. He doesn’t make runs like the modern day T20 batter, but finds ways to throw bowlers off.

CSK won the toss and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad chose to bowl first. GT openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill gave the hosts a strong start with a solid partnership, Gill attacking while Sai anchored. Gill raced to a 28-ball fifty and, along with Sudharsan, took GT past 100 before the halfway mark.
Sudharsan brought up his fifth consecutive fifty, but Gill fell for 64 off 37 balls to Spencer Johnson, giving CSK their first breakthrough. Jos Buttler then joined Sudharsan, and the pair added 84 runs, keeping Chennai’s bowlers under pressure.
Sudharsan eventually departed for a superb 84 off 53 deliveries to Anshul Kamboj, after which Gaikwad’s sharp fielding dismissed Rahul Tewatia for a golden duck. Washington Sundar was removed by Mukesh Choudhary for 7, while Buttler remained unbeaten on 57 off 27 balls, guiding GT to a formidable 229/4 in 20 overs.
