Thane, Jun 9 (PTI) Around 45 residents were safely evacuated from a building after a fire broke out in the eight-storey structure in the Naupada area of Thane city on Tuesday evening, the local civic body said.
The fire erupted in the electric duct of the residential building, Snehsadan, at at 5:43 pm, but there were no casualties, said the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC).
“The fire broke out in the electric duct on the third, fourth and fifth floors of the building,” RDMC chief Yasin Tadvi said.
Local residents, along with RDMC staff and fire brigade personnel, managed to put out the blaze after about 30 minutes of efforts, he said.
“With the help of RDMC staff and fire brigade personnel, around 45 residents
of the building were safely evacuated.” Tadvi informed.
The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. PTI COR RSY
