A temporary disruption in metro services is expected in Bengaluru this Sunday morning, which may impact early commuters and those planning weekend travel across the city. The interruption is linked to scheduled maintenance work, and authorities have advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.
According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited, metro services on the Purple Line will be suspended for two hours on Sunday due to emergency maintenance work. The disruption will be in effect from 7 AM to 9 AM.
Services Affected Between Majestic And Mysuru Road
The temporary suspension will specifically impact services between Majestic and Mysuru Road metro stations. This stretch is part of the Purple Line, one of the busiest corridors
in the city, connecting key residential and commercial areas.
Officials said the maintenance work will be carried out between Vijayanagar and Attiguppe stations. As a result, metro operations will not run on this section during the scheduled time window.
Early Morning Commuters May Be Impacted
Although the suspension is limited to a two-hour window in the early morning, it could affect commuters heading out for work, travel, or other engagements. Sundays typically see lighter traffic compared to weekdays, but metro services remain an important mode of transport for many residents.
Passengers planning to travel along the affected stretch have been advised to look at alternative arrangements during this period. Services are expected to resume as usual after 9 AM.
Maintenance Work Behind Disruption
BMRCL stated that the suspension is part of emergency maintenance work aimed at ensuring safe and smooth operations of metro services. Such maintenance activities are periodically carried out to address technical requirements and prevent larger disruptions in the future.
With the temporary suspension announced in advance, commuters can plan their schedules accordingly. Those travelling on Sunday morning, especially along the Purple Line between Majestic and Mysuru Road, should account for the disruption and consider alternate routes or modes of transport.
Metro services across the rest of the network are expected to operate normally during this period.
