Bengaluru Police have announced extensive traffic restrictions and diversions across key parts of the city ahead of DK Shivakumar’s swearing-in ceremony as Karnataka’s Chief Minister on Wednesday, according to a report by The Deccan Herald. The traffic advisory will remain in force from 12 pm to 8 pm on June 3 to facilitate movement and security arrangements around the ceremony venue.
DK Shivakumar is scheduled to take oath as Karnataka’s Chief Minister at 4:05 pm at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan. The ceremony follows the resignation of Siddaramaiah last week, paving the way for the leadership transition.
Key Roads To Remain Closed
As part of the traffic management plan, Bengaluru Police have prohibited vehicular movement on Raj Bhavan Road between Basaveshwara Circle and
BRV Junction from noon until 8 pm. However, vehicles travelling from CTO Junction towards BRV Junction will be permitted to use the route.
Ambedkar Road will also remain closed between KR Circle and Balekundri Circle during the restricted hours.
Police have advised commuters to avoid the affected stretches and use alternative routes wherever possible.
Alternative Routes For Commuters
According to the DH report, vehicles travelling along Cubbon Road towards CTO Junction and Lok Bhavan can turn right at BRV Junction and proceed via Shivajinagar and Balekundri Circle. Motorists may also take a left turn at BRV Junction to access Anil Kumble Junction and MG Road.
Vehicles approaching from Queens Road and Shivajinagar have been advised to travel through Cunningham Road via Balekundri Junction.
Meanwhile, commuters travelling from KR Circle towards Coffee Board Junction can use Nrupathunga Road as an alternative route.
The advisory further states that vehicles travelling from Trilight Junction towards Subbanna Junction through Race Course Road should proceed via Sivananda Junction and SC Road Junction before taking a left turn towards their destination.
For those travelling from Queens Junction towards Lok Bhavan, the suggested route is through Anil Kumble Junction and BRV Junction.
Routes Open Towards Hebbal And Cubbon Park
Vehicles travelling from Ashirvadam Circle and MG Road towards Hebbal will be allowed to move through BRV Junction, Shivajinagar Bus Stand, Balekundri Junction, Cunningham Road and Vasanthanagar.
In addition, motorists coming from KR Circle through Cubbon Park can continue their journey via Siddalingaiah Junction towards Vitthal Mallya Road.
Police have urged residents to plan their travel in advance and expect delays in and around the central business district during the hours when the restrictions remain in effect.
