Thalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated film Jana Nayagan, his final cinematic outing before his full-time transition into politics, has run into another setback. The project has faced fresh delays after portions of the film were leaked online, raising serious concerns within the industry. The incident has also sparked strong reactions from several members of the film fraternity, including Chiranjeevi, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan. Now, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has also reacted to the ongoing row, expressing his concern.
Sonu Sood expresses disappointment over Jana Nayagan’s leak
A while ago, Sonu Sood, who also actively works in the South, took to X (formerly Twitter) and expressed disappointment over the leak of Jana Nayagan, calling it “heartbreaking” and a disrespect to the hard work of everyone involved.
He tweeted, “It’s heartbreaking to see a film like Jananayagan get leaked online. The sleepless nights, years of effort and passion that go into making a film… only those involved truly understand. It’s like their baby.”
He further added, “Piracy is not just illegal, it’s a complete disregard for every artist and technician behind it. This needs strict action. Standing in support of @actorvijay. Let’s respect cinema.” Have a look:

On April 10, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan also took to social media, calling out piracy and urging audiences to respect the hard work and creativity that goes into filmmaking. The Robot actor wrote, “The release of the Jananayakan film on the internet by someone has caused shock and pain. Film associations must raise their voice against this, and the government must identify those responsible and impose severe punishment. Such crimes must not be allowed to continue in the future.”
Kamal Haasan wrote, “The leak of #Jananayagan is not an accident – it is the result of systemic failure. Had due process been timely, we would not be here. Inordinate delays in certification created fertile ground for piracy. When legal access is stalled, illegitimate channels take over. Piracy is beyond politics; it is an attack on the art and artist itself. It endangers the work of hundreds of artists and technicians, and the investments of honest tax-paying producers, exhibitors and theatre owners, all who sustain the cinema we love. Who protects the creator when the system fails? We need accountability, swift certification, strict enforcement, and real-time takedowns. I trust true lovers of cinema will unite and give a befitting response by watching the film legally in theatres, as you stood with me in the past.”
Meanwhile, the producers of Jana Nayagan have initiated legal action against the source of the leak, with further proceedings underway.
