Washington, Jul 4 (PTI) US envoy to India Sergio Gor joined President Donald Trump in the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of American Independence, travelling with him to Mount Rushmore and attending other events.
Gor, who arrived here last week, has been catching up with friends in the Trump Administration before participating in Independence Day celebrations with them.
“An incredible trip to Mt. Rushmore with the Greatest President,” Gor said in a post on X sharing a photo of him with Trump onboard the Air Force One on Friday.
Earlier this week, Gor was in New York with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and posted a picture of them with the Statue of Liberty in the background.
He also joined Vice President J D Vance and US Attorney for the
District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro for dinner at the White House.
Gor was also present at the second Pax Silica Summit hosted by US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg.
“Thrilled to have my friend Ambassador Gor join us at the second Pax Silica Summit. India is a vital Pax Silica partner—driving pro-innovation regulation, trusted AI infrastructure, and resilient supply chains. We look forward to continuing to build trusted ecosystems that will power the AI economy for decades to come,” Helberg said in a post on X.
Gor also met Congressmen Brian Mast and Bill Huizenga and discussed issues related to India.
“Great catching up with Chairman Brian Mast of the House Foreign Relations Committee. Had an excellent meeting focused on India and South Asia alongside Congressman Bill Huizenga. Both are true patriots,” Gor said on X.
Before taking up the assignment as Ambassador to India in January, Gor was the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, a post responsible for making key appointments in the Trump administration.
At the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum Leadership Summit, Gor was introduced by Al Mason, a political strategist and a key Trump supporter, as an “exceptionally talented friend” chosen by the President to reset ties with India.
“When it comes to statecraft, Ambassador Sergio Gor is a masterclass of friendship diplomacy. Just as President Trump is known for the art of the deal, Sergio Gor is known for the art of friendship,” Mason said.
“Friendship is his DNA. Relationships are his operating system,” said Mason, a close confidant of Trump.
According to Mason, Gor conveyed three basic truths to Prime Minister Modi: “President Trump respects India’s rise, President Trump admires Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, and President Trump wants a stronger India-US relationship.” Mason also credited Gor with helping restore momentum to the India-US relationship following his appointment as ambassador.
