The multi-award-winning performer breathed her last in Los Angeles. She was rushed to the hospital in the morning after having breathing difficulty. Her team shared an official obituary, which included details about how her family would honour her memory before she is laid to rest.
‘Private Celebration Of Life’
In the official obituary, which was shared with Just Jared, Catherine’s team revealed that her family
is planning a ‘private celebration’ instead of a public funeral.
“A private celebration of life will be held by the family. Prolific multi-award-winning actress, writer, and comedian Catherine O’Hara died today at her home in Los Angeles following a brief illness,” the obituary states.
Catherine O’Hara Was Experiencing Breathing Difficulty
As reported by PEOPLE, first responders received a call to O’Hara’s Los Angeles address at approximately 4:48 AM on January 30, citing a medical emergency. The “approximately 70-year-old” unnamed female, presumed to be the Schitt’s Creek alum, was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
According to the dispatch audio from the Los Angeles Fire Department, the patient was experiencing breathing difficulty.
Catherine O’Hara’s Career So Far
The 71-year-old star was known for her brilliant comic timing and unforgettable performances in projects like Home Alone, Schitt’s Creek and Beetlejuice, among others. Catherine O’Hara rose to global fame as Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek, a role that earned her widespread acclaim and multiple awards. She also became a household name as the loving yet frantic mother in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
Catherine was last seen in the television series, The Studio. She played Patty Leigh, a senior studio head who mentors Seth Rogen’s character, Matt Remick. Her performances earned her Emmy nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
