Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sisters are set to file a formal petition in the High Court to seek urgent orders to allow immediate access to their brother, who is currently lodged in Adiala jail.
The petition claims that the jail authorities have violated constitutional rights, stating that Imran Khan has not been allowed to meet his family members for several weeks despite repeated written requests.
Sources close to the matter have informed that the petition includes medical concerns and states that the family has no verified information on Khan’s health condition inside prison.
The development struck a fresh wave of mobilisation among Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, who have already announced peaceful demonstrations
outside courts and major cities.
Social Media Abuzz With Rumours About Imran Khan’s Death
Meanwhile, several social media handles from Afghanistan and Pakistan are rife with rumours that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supremo was mysteriously killed in the Adiala jail.
Afghanistan media reported that Khan has allegedly been mysteriously killed, and his body has been moved out of the prison. Several social media handles, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Balochistan, have posted about his alleged assassination.
The rumours came after Imran Khan’s three sisters were “brutally assaulted” by the police for what the party said was “their crime for seeking a meeting with Imran Khan”. The sisters were camped outside the prison after being denied a meeting with him for a month when police personnel pounced on them and brutally assaulted them, the PTI claimed.
