Farah Khan Got Angry At Zayed Khan During Main Hoon Na Shoot, Warned Him, 'Next Time You Say...'

When Main Hoon Na was being shot, there were reports of a tiff between Zayed Khan and Farah Khan. While the entire cast got along well on set, the reports regarding Zayed and Farah’s disagreements led to speculations. Now, in a chat with Zoom, Zayed has recalled an incident which could have been the reason behind the reports.

Actor Zayed Khan mentioned, “We were shooting on celluloid, and the camera was panning towards me. We had already done multiple takes. Dancing at high altitude is tough—oxygen is low, and you’re exhausted. During one take, a dancer suddenly collapsed.”

“I stopped and tried to help him. Someone even suggested we continue dancing around him, which I refused. At that point, I said ‘cut’, and Farah immediately said, ‘Nobody says

cut on my set.’ I told her, ‘This guy is in trouble.’ She warned me, ‘Next time you say cut, I’m going to chop you off,’” he recalled.

However, despite the disagreement and the hectic shoot, Zayed said that the cast and crew were like family and the set felt warm. He mentioned, “We were like a family. Every weekend, we’d gather and mimic people for hours. It was madness, but it helped everyone bond. There was never a dull moment.”

Speaking about working with Shah Rukh Khan, Zayed said, “He never interfered in my process. It was a very pleasant experience. He’s extremely competitive, though—we used to play FIFA for hours, from 7 to 11. I always say I was better than him, but he’d never agree. If he lost, he’d keep playing until he won again.”

Even to this day, Zayed Khan’s Lucky remains one of his most memorable roles, solidified in pop culture. When Main Hoon Na was released in 2004, it marked not only Farah Khan’s directorial debut but also a defining moment for Zayed Khan, who played the affable and rebellious Lucky. While Shah Rukh Khan led the film as the disciplined Major Ram, it was Zayed’s portrayal of the carefree younger brother that brought a distinct youthful energy to the narrative, making him one of the film’s most memorable characters.
