Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan is making headlines following reports that the makers are planning to shift the film’s release date from April 17 to Independence Day. While everyone has been awaiting an official confirmation on the same, it was reported that with the shoot of the film still remaining unfinished and with a protocol requiring the film to be screened for the Ministry of Defence, it looks like the movie might not meet the April 17 deadline.
Amid this, the director of the Salman Khan-starrer war drama has claimed that he is not aware of any such development regarding the film’s release being pushed to another date. When TOI reached out to Apoorva Lakhia, he reacted to the news of the release being postponed and said, “I am not aware.”
Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan Release Date
Bollywood Hungama quoted a source saying, “Battle of Galwan has indeed been postponed, and it will now release on August 14, 2026. Salman Khan and the makers are of the opinion that it would be a better date since India’s Independence Day falls on August 15. The patriotic sentiment will be at an all-time high, and Battle of Galwan would be an ideal flick to watch during this period.” While the makers of Salman Khan’s film haven’t officially announced it yet, an update is expected shortly.
If the reports are true and Battle of Galwan releases on August 14, it will clash at the box office with Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla and Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947.
About Battle of Galwan
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film starring Salman Khan takes viewers back to the harrowing 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The story, based on the novel India’s Most Fearless 3, depicts a rare border fight that turned deadly without any firearms being used. Soldiers resorted to hand-to-hand combat with sticks and stones, making it one of the most emotionally charged stories in Indian history.
Salman Khan will be seen in a battle-hardened, rugged avatar, while Chitrangada Singh plays a pivotal role in the film. With its powerful narrative and tribute to the bravery of Indian soldiers, Battle of Galwan is shaping up to be a significant cinematic homage to the armed forces.
