Bareilly (UP), Apr 27 (PTI) A fire broke out at a residential apartment here early Monday, destroying four vehicles and causing panic among residents, officials said.
The blaze, allegedly triggered by a short circuit, erupted at 5.05 am on the ground floor of Competent Pride Apartment in the Prem Nagar area, they said.
Within minutes, thick smoke and flames engulfed the premises, leading to chaos as residents rushed out for safety.
Chief Fire Officer Manu Sharma said after receiving information, fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames after sustained efforts.
“Prima facie, the fire appears to have been caused by a short circuit in the electrical panel,” he said, advising residents to ensure regular inspection of electrical systems.
According to locals, sparks from the electrical panel quickly spread to nearby parked vehicles, which were soon engulfed in flames.
Two cars and two two-wheelers were gutted in the incident. Firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from spreading further, averting major damage to the building, officials said, adding that no casualties were reported. PTI CORR ABN ABN KSI KSI
