Sonu Nigam Postpones Delhi Concert Amid NEET Protest Heat, Event Rescheduled To August 15

The nation has been protesting against the government after NEET paper leaks. At the centre of it is Delhi where thousands of people gathered in Jantar Mantar demanding education reforms, accountability for major public examination irregularities as well as the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Amid this, singer Sonu Nigam has postponed his event in Delhi. He was scheduled to perform at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in Dwarka Delhi on July 25.

Now, if you go on online booking websites, you will not be able to find the tickets for the concert. Moreover, the posters now show that the event has been scheduled for August 15.

Meanwhile, Sonu Nigam told Hindustan Times, “It’s been postponed keeping the current sentiment

in mind.”

This comes a day after a video from an unknown event surfaced online showing Sonu Nigam being questioned about the ongoing protests. The singer appeared visibly irritated while responding to the paparazzi. Sonu said, “Main yahaan kis liye aaya hoon? Bas…bas…bas.” As reporters continued asking follow-up questions, he ended the interaction, saying, “Ab ho gaya bas.”

Meanwhile, days after nationwide student protests over the NEET exam paper leak intensified, Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally issued a statement late on Thursday, July 23. The PM said that the Union Cabinet will discuss tougher measures against paper leaks, calling the issue “not an ordinary issue” and promising further action in the coming days.

In a late-night post on X, PM Modi shared a video message titled, ‘More Strict Actions Against Paper Leaks To Come In Tomorrow’s Cabinet!’ The message came amid the ongoing protests over the NEET paper leak at Jantar Mantar. He also said the government plans to introduce a bill in Parliament next week to strengthen action against paper leaks.

“The paper leak is not an ordinary issue. It is a painful issue for lakhs of students and their parents,” the Prime Minister said.

Hundreds of students and job aspirants have been protesting at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over alleged paper leaks in multiple competitive examinations. The demonstrations reportedly turned tense after clashes broke out between protesters and police personnel.

Several protesters have accused the police of using excessive force, including lathi charges, claiming that some demonstrators were injured during the confrontation.
