Actor Samyuktha Hegde has strongly criticised comedian Pranit More’s latest apology amid the controversy surrounding remarks made by an audience member during one of his shows. The backlash began after 23-year-old Himanshu Jangra recounted a date during crowd work segment, suggesting that because he had spent ₹370 on a plate of chicken biryani, he was entitled to something in return. Pranit More laughed when the derogatory remark was made instead of challenging it, drawing widespread criticism online. Now, Samyuktha has slammed Pranit’s apology video, saying that he didn’t get ‘carried away’ in the moment, but that his reaction reflected who he truly is.
Samyuktha Hegde’s Reaction To Pranit More’s Apology Video
Pranit More recently shared an apology video over the controversy, and said that he deserved
the criticism for giving the man a platform to make derogatory remarks. “While I was doing crowd work with that guy, he said many derogatory things, but everyone was laughing. I got carried away, and it was a lapse in judgment. I feel this was a big mistake on my part. I could have stopped him there or taken a stand, but I didn’t,” he said.
Reacting to the apology video, Samyuktha Hegde commented on Instagram, saying, “Pranit, stop reading a telepromt!! You didn’t get carried away or anything, that’s who you really are, the way you are rolling on the stage laughing like that is the best thing you have ever heard, shameful!! This is R@pe culture, and your mind and most minds in our country is conditioned to believe this is okay but it’s not. Your sorry means nothing!”
She added, “The disgust that you are is pretty clear and in the open. Not just you and that guy but every human that was in the room was a problem. Comedy is funny when r@pe is not normalised. Don’t sell anything as comedy and expect people to react well to it. A country where 4 r@pes are reported every hour, this is not humour!”
Kunickaa Sadanand, Shehbaz Badesha React
Meanwhile, Pranit More’s Bigg Boss 19 co-contestants Kunickaa Sadanand and Shehbaz Badesha also reacted to his apology video. Kunickaa wrote, “Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone has the courage to own it. @rj_pranit you are a good boy, with right values, but as i always said roasting or crowd work can carry you away, especially as an entertainer, when you see ppl reacting and laughing. I hope ppl forgive you, and i also hope ppl change their attitude towards women/girls. You were not the cause of a generational mindset, you were one of the many who inherited this mindset from generations of objectification. God bless you, i’m sure you will be back with brilliant content. stay strong stay mindful.”
Meanwhile, Shehbaz commented, “u r best bro galti maaf krne vale bade hote hai. u accepted thats great.”
