India’s top-order woes continued when the men in blue were up against England in the first T20I on Wednesday at Chester-le-Street. Saqib Mahmood sent Sanju Samson packing right in the second over, and later, a huge mix-up in the middle led to Ishan Kishan’s freak dismissal, leaving India stuttering at 6/2 in 2 overs.
Kishan’s stay ended in a frustrating run-out that put India under early pressure. Ishan had called for a quick single but Abhishek, who had his eyes on the ball, was quick to sense there was no run.
“Are yaar kya kar raha hai (What are you doing?)” shouted Abhishek from the non-striker’s end when Kishan was already halfway through.
The mix-up in the second over left Kishan stranded midway, with England’s fielders reacting sharply to
complete the dismissal. The wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed for a two-ball duck, disrupting India’s momentum at the top.
Another Disappointing start for Team India.
Sanju Samson again fails to score.

Abhishek Sharma came to India’s rescue with a commanding knock against England in the first T20I at Chester-le-Street. Walking in after early setbacks, the left-hander steadied the innings with fluent strokeplay in testing conditions. With Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan dismissed cheaply, Abhishek took charge, attacking Liam Dawson and Saqib Mahmood to trigger a momentum shift.
Earlier, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was not included in the playing XI, while India opted for three spinners, including the returning Varun Chakravarthy.
