It’s been almost five months since Ranveer Singh’s exit from Don 3 sparked controversy. Now, as the dispute between Farhan Akhtar and the actor continues, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has finally intervened, announcing that its decision on the matter will be revealed today, May 25. Following Akhtar approaching the FWICE, several meetings were held, and now the board will announce its decision at 4 PM today after a final meeting scheduled around 2:30 PM.
Ahead of the final decision, a Mid-day report has suggested that the board may take a decision against Ranveer Singh. As per a source close to the portal, “Everybody agreed that this cannot become a pattern. Not every film will become a blockbuster like ‘Dhurandhar’ [2025].
If actors begin exiting projects days before schedules begin, smaller producers will collapse under the pressure.”
While citing this case as an example, the source added that the FWICE might announce a formal framework to discourage abrupt exits by talent. This is not the first instance of an actor leaving a project abruptly. Earlier, in 2019, news of Salman Khan leaving Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Inshallah made major headlines, eventually leading to the film being shelved.
Earlier, many such examples, including Abhishek Bachchan’s exit from Paltan and Hrithik Roshan stepping away from Shuddhi, had also made headlines.
Why Ranveer Singh exited Don 3
The Don 3 controversy began in December 2025 when Ranveer Singh unexpectedly walked out of the project after being attached to it for nearly two years. According to reports mentioned in the original story, the actor cited script changes as the main reason behind his decision. The timing also became a major talking point because it happened shortly after the massive success of Ranveer’s film Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar.
Farhan Akhtar and his producing partner Ritesh Sidhwani reportedly claimed they had already spent heavily on Don 3’s pre-production based on Ranveer’s commitment to the film.
The producers also alleged that Ranveer repeatedly delayed the project due to scheduling issues before eventually stepping away completely. Excel Entertainment later reportedly sought compensation of Rs 40 crore from the actor.
Don 3 was officially announced in 2024 as the next chapter in the iconic Don franchise. After Farhan announced Ranveer Singh as the new Don, the actor’s first-look teaser generated major discussion online. Later, Kiara Advani was confirmed as the female lead, replacing Priyanka Chopra. However, after Ranveer’s exit, the future of Don 3 remains uncertain.
